Year 3: The Bright, Bright Summer

For the hell of it, while I put the touches on the beginning of Issue #23, I’d like to offer you a preview of what the next twelve issues of Descendants has in store (minor spoilers, subject to change, but I’m keeping the big aces up my sleeve, of course). A good bit of this year will take place between the end of June and the beginning of September, which is why it’s the Bright, Bright Summer.

Conceptual spoilers follow

Varied Relationships
Not those kinds of relationships, you pervs! You’re already familiar with the dynamics of a good many of the characters, but how do Warrick and Juniper get along? Ian and Melissa? Year 3 will put more characters in situations where we’ll get to see just that.

The Kids are Alright
We’ll meet new psionic youngsters, fairly new in their powers. To name a few (vaguely): Arkose, Xylum, and Summit. We’ll also see inside the Brunswick Boarding School for the Gifted and Voice’s Center for Psionic Potential.

Snicker-Snack!
The femme fatale, Vorpal’s backstory is revealed!

Back to the Books (x2)
The young residents of Freeland House return to high school for Senior year, along with all their friends (and Lily), finding new classmates, new problems and new teen comedy.

But Project Tome is also back in play, fielding dangerous new Agents like TenDragon and The White Shadow. Combined with powerful new inugami and a few classic villains, and you’ve got trouble.

A Touch of the Fantastic
A MagiTech Crisis let magic into the world and now it’s coming out to play in a big way. Villains like Warpstar and Legend tap into powers man hasn’t seen for centuries to raise good old fashioned havoc.

America’s Favorite Hero…
At least their favorite hero who lives in New York and wears a white coat. The Whitecoat gets his very own mini; Networked starting in Year 3. Also getting a mini is the Secret Master of the Mayfield Underworld; Vincent Liedecker in an unnamed mini. One shots planned include The Kin: Summer Vacation and Superhuman Intervention Unit Ten.

There’s lots of other cool things on tap for year three that you can only learn about by reading, so I hope to see everyone for Year 3!
